-I know my S2 grades of sophomore year were rocky, and there is a reason for this. This was the semester I "came out of the closet" at my school and it did not go over smoothly with students along with my family.. I know I take full responsibility for my grades, but this will be explained to the schools I apply to..

ECS

-Newspaper- sophomore, reporter; junior, opinion editor
-Student Council- freshman, secretary;sophomore, member;junior, member
-Key Club- freshman, member
-Cross Country- freshman thru senior, runner (didn't race that much senior year due to coach not letting mr run--my college class interferes with practice)
-Job- since sophomore year, in fast food. I work about 15-20 hrs a week
-Volunteer 1-4 hrs a week at the local hospital's emergency room
-NHS- junior, member; senior, vice president
-GSA- sophomore, member

Hook: As I've stated before I think it is to my advantage to be a first generation college student and American. I also think that it helps that I'm gay (not for admissions reasons specifically, but to help "diversify" the student body)

Essay: A epiphany, and how I want to change the world.

Counselor Rec: Really good. She marked me top 1% for personality/character and top 5% for extracurriculars/academics. Also said I took "most demanding" courses.

Teacher Rec: One is really good (AP US teacher) and the other one I have not read (AP English teacher, junior year)

So, be as blunt as possible.. these are the schools I anticipate applying to:

Kenyon College (ED)
Macalester (EDII)
University Of Illinois -Urbana Champaign (in state)(EA)
Tulane University (EA)
Skidmore (RD)
Connecticut College (RD)
Boston University (RD)
Grinnell (RD)
Oberlin (RD)
Whitman (RD)
University of Miami (RD)

Do you think I have a feasible shot at these schools, mainly the selective LACS?

Also, I interviewed at:

-Kenyon
-Macalester
-Oberlin

I would say Kenyon and Macalester went very well, Oberlin's interview was average.

I'm also flying to Whitman (expenses paid!) to visit in about a week, if that makes any difference!

C'mon, share the love!

If you have a chance thread, I'll gladly return the deed.

You have the best shot in UIUC and BU...as for others....I'd say reaches....could you chance me? EA-notreD/BC/Umich/UIUC cool?kthx

Thanks.

There's gotta be more feedback then that.. Anyone?

honestly i think you have a great shot at all of those schools. i can't say i'm familiar with 3 of those though.

here's me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/580544-new-gpa-scores-georgia-tech-i-ll-chance-you-back-i-swear.html thanks

thanks, anybody else?

I'll chance back!

Also, at uiuc, I applied to the school of general studies.

Please anyone else? I chance back!

Honestly...I am not really familiar with all your school choices ( I am on the west coast). However...you and I applied e/a to Tulane...so I have done some research on that school and I do think you are in!
You have a compelling story... I would emphasize the struggle of your finding yourself and coming to terms with others reactions in your essays!
Good-Luck!
Maybe I'll see ya in NOLA! :)

Maybe! I'm curious to see what kind of FA packages Tulane will churn out..

Please any more chances, specifically for Kenyon or Macalester?

bummmmmmp

10char

neww day, new chances? =]
