Extremely Worried...

I dropped out of High School earlier this year, and got my GED. While I was in high school, my grades were horrible. But my test scores were very high. I passed all of my Graduation Exams the first time I took them, and made a decent pass of 19 on my ACTs. I recently took the ASVAB and scored a 78. I'm going on a Campus Visit at a college this Friday and was told to bring my GED and my High School Transcripts so we could fill out an application. But I'm worried that my trnascript will look too bad.

Can anyone tell me just how greatly they use the Transcript? I know that the transcript basically tells how focussed we were in school, and our general grade acheivement. But is it possible to get into a good college with a bad Transcript and a GED?

HELP!

It really depends on how selective the college is and how badly you did in HS. If it’s not a selective college they may let you in on academic watch or probation. Just be open and honest when discussing your background and why you did poorly.

I don’t know the exact figure, but something like 70% of US colleges don’t turn away ANYONE. You sound like a perfect case for entrance into one of those colleges. This is not a put-down; it simply means that a place like that is where you have the chance to redeem yourself. If you have a great freshman year with all As and Bs and find that you weren’t challenged enough, you can always try then for transfer to a more selective college if you so desire. Good luck!
