^^^There's something to keep you from blinking, but I believe you're awake. It's fast, I hear. I'm afraid to get it because I hear the worse vision you start with, the worse the side effects might be and the less chance of getting 20/20. I don't know about you, but I'm not spending $3000 to still have to wear glasses.

I've got -6.50 in one eye, and -6.75 in the other, but I haven't been to the eye doctor in almost 2 years, and I guarantee you I'm probably in the 8's by now. I've got horrible depth perception with or without contacts, and to make matters worse, I lost my glasses (well, I know where they are- long story) and have to wear my contacts from the second I wake up to the minute before I go to sleep. It's horrible for my eyes, I know, but I can't survive without my contacts.

A few weeks back I was down to my last pair, and my mom was too lazy to order new ones, and then I ran out of solution, so I was sanitizing a pair of 6 week old contacts (mind you, I've got the 2-week wear kind) in water. It was horrible.

I get scared sometimes because I wonder what would happen if there was a fire at nighttime or a burglary or something (I'd probably die), but I'm just happy that I can afford contacts because I look really horrible in glasses.

I'm like a -2.5 and my sister's in the -6.5 range or something insane like that. I don't exactly remember. She can't see past her nose without them.

I wear the two week ones for a month... I'm a bad person I guess haha. I feel bad like throwing them away, though. I imagine all of the contacts that people've worn in a big pile somewhere in a landfill.

I wouldn't get lasik because my father has a friend who got it and they really messed his eyes up and now he can't hardly see at all in the dark.

I'm considering LASIK sometime in the future...but the horror stories I hear about it really scare me off. Maybe one day the process will become more foolproof...

I'm like in the 3's right now...I hope. And I wear glasses 24/7, I hate walking around without them I feel like I'm about to fall over and break my nose. Has anyone ever waved to a blurry shape that looked vaguely like a friend and then realized it wasn't? >_> Embarrassing, xD.

I need contacts but I keep forgetting to get them...snowboarding half blind sucks.

you guys should consider vision therapy exercises. my vision improved after doing them for a month. but you have to do them every once in a while otherwise your eyes get bad again. they are exercises that you do with your eyes. type in vision exercises into google.

I've always had 20/20 eye vision. I think part of it is genes (parents have good vision) but also just don't read so closely to the book (or tv/computer). I read with a good foot between my eyes and the text, and that's why I have pretty good vision.

oh god, i have somewhere from a 4-5 range. What percent chance is it that u ll go blind or some other terrible sideeffect will happen if u have the laser eye sergery?

I remember hearing there is like a 1 or 2% chance...I had a teacher who went blind in middle school!! No way am I ever doing that. 1-2% is too much for me.

On October 10, 2006, WebMD reported that statistical analysis revealed that contact lens wear infection risk is greater than the infection risk from LASIK. Daily contact lens wearers have a 1-in-100 chance of developing a serious, contact lens-related eye infection in 30 years of use, and a 1-in-2,000 chance of suffering significant vision loss as a result of infection. The researchers calculated the risk of significant vision loss consequence of LASIK surgery to be closer to 1-in-10,000 cases.

I'm +4 in both eyes... dang farsightedness. I don't even get the perks of seeing far away. My eyes are so bad that with contacts I get to 20/25 at best (not to mention the astigmatism can't be corrected), so I find it so ridiculously difficult to read street signs with driving.

To top it off, my ophthamologist (or do I go to an optometrist? whatever) says I'm not a candidate for lasik because I'm farsighted... Even though those that are farsighted can get it, if your eye problems are caused by muscle differences rather than cornea issues the surgery won't work.

I want a bloody second opinion. I've worn glasses/contacts since I was four.

I've worn glasses since I was 14 months, Johnson. I win.

XD j/k. But I really have. And I'm farsighted as well (.5 in one eye, 1.5 in the other...I have a lazy eye). My doctor says I might be able to get lasik, but I'll probably have to wear glasses when I drive at night for the rest of my life.

I concede...

BUT... I win in terms of glasses. Mine magnify my eyes so much... which yours probably do too because you're farsighted, but not nearly to the extent that mine do.

It makes me so self conscious (and lots of people comment on it) that I hate wearing my glasses. I'll stick to contacts.

^^^contacts, contacts, contacts. I've had them for nearly 3 years now, and I've never been happier. But whenever one falls out, or if I get itchy pollen eyes, I'm in hell.

Jeez. I feel better about my eyes. I used to wear reading glasses from 4th grade till about 6th or 7th, then I decided I hated them and stopped. =P Now I'm afraid I need glasses for driving... my mom needs to make an appointment for me... ):

yeah i also stopped wearing my glasses. i am nearsighted, and i can (somewhat) manage without them. i just sit in the front of the room. and i can make out words if i know the context, haha.

I'm going to my optometrist tomorrow! I prefer contacts over glasses. It's too bothersome how glasses always slide around. But, haha, I sometimes wear them especially if I want to look smart that day. Yeah, I know that's a stereotype.
