F-1 Visa application question

Hi everyone!

In the DS-160 for F-1 visas (for a 4 year undergraduate, BA), do I apply for a 4 year visa, or select one year and reapply for the F-1 each year during my time in school?

I’m a bit confused here. Thank you!

Bump!

It would be a great help if anyone could share their experience/insight on this. Thank you

Maybe try the international forum. Most posters in the Yale forum are not international and are not familiar with visas.

I see you are a Columbia student from your other thread. Here is their International student info.
I see visa information there.

Hello, thank you!

I have been using cc from my phone and I could have sworn I was posting on the is section… My bad!
Ive had some difficulties getting in touch with the isso, but managed to schedule an appointment this week.

Thank you

DD has an F1 student visa and it’s for the whole four years. I didn’t realise there was an option but since there are costs involved and - at least in our country - the need to travel and sit around for hours to get the visa I don’t think she’d have wanted to do it every year!

That is wonderful to know, thank you!
Having to renew the visa each year would be anything but convenient.
