F.B.I. Agent

How would one become a F.B.I. agent? Whats the best way to get there and what major would be best for this job?

Dude, they're desperate. They'll love to have you. Learn to speak one of those Middle Eastern languages, like Arabic. When we need to invade another oil-producing nation, they'll beg you to join them...though you'll get paid on a government pay scale (ouch!).
But seriously, they like people that are bilingual, trilingual, quadlingual, quintlingual, etc. Check their web pages. I believe they commonly hire people after college and put you through some training.

what kind of major would they want the most?

I would like to know too, as i'm also interested in that field. If anyone can give some advice, it would be great.

I think the Marines would be the best option

I think any major is good for FBI, but sometimes they like to have business/accounting or computer science backgrounds.

My old physics teacher tried to get into the FBI but he was a huge nerd and failed the physical exam because he couldn't run a mile in like 7 minutes or something.

There are many opportunities in the FBI. If you cannot meet the physical requirements to be a field agent, you can still be an attorney or accountant for the FBI.

A speaker from the FBI recently came to the UCLA Prelaw society. He said the FBI and CIA both recruit law students. With the FBI, you can be an attorney, attorney/agent, or a field agent.

You must be 23-35 to JOIN the FBI. Also, you must have prior work experience to join the FBI (e.g. law, social work, law enforcement). The FBI website says they look favorably on Sociology, Anthropology majors, and more.

Good luck from another agent hopeful!

o wow seems like im in luck. i can speak english, mandarin, some dialects a fair bit of malay and am gonna embark on my arabic quest!

but i dont wanna be an fbi :(

Your major must thoroughly prepare you for law, accounting, science, language or a diversified FBI program

Do you kno as to how much the GS scale is? the max at GS-15 is $131,489

I imagine there’s also cost of living adjustments and possibly some modifications for if your job requires clearances (which I imagine pretty much all FBI jobs do). Also, there’s the great benefits of working for the government in addition to the connections you can make for if you ever decide to move to private industry.

I love this thread!!! My dream job as a kid was a fbi agent (it was prbly b/c of all the cool movies and everything). But I figured that it was not quite realistic afterall, and that was when I stopped considering that.
Btw, do FBI hire internationals?

No, you have to be a US citizen.

I’m a high school student who’s interested in becoming a profiler for the FBI,
what classes, or schools should i look into for this specific field?

C.I.A. >>> FBI

Would this be more relevant to the C.I.A?

have you smoked weed?

Would I have a good shot getting into the FBI with a double major in criminal justice and Anthropology and a minor in Sociology? I am also getting ready to apply for a job at my local police department
