Hi everyone!
Does anyone have an idea about the date of notification for ED2? And good luck!!
it’s supposed to be in 15 Feb, but decisions usually come out in 12 or 13 !
Thanks! @denam98 So I suppose we can learn the decision from the student portal by that date, right?
yes ! Good luck !
Thank you! Good luck!
It can’t come soon enough. I’m so excited!!
Counselor said decisions released tomorrow. Good luck.
Anyone have an idea if decisions will be visible in our admissions portal and around what time?
Did they snail mail decisions today?
Yea they did today! We should get em anybday this week, nost likely by Monday. Rumour has it we might know through the portal by Sunday
I don’t think there is mail on Monday - holiday. You think they weren’t mailed until Friday?
They’re up!
My cousin’s son got in!
It would great if you could posts stats and if you were accepted/rejected. Anyone know when regular decision comes out?
Deferred and disappointed.
My SAT’s weren’t great M: 640 CR: 610, but still within the mid 50% of students
GPA ~ 3.75
Strong recs
Great essay
Many EC’s and leadership positions
Had an interview with an alumna that went very well
I’m really upset and frankly embarrassed that I was not given a decision. F&M is still my #1 school but I’m not sure that I can put my humiliation to the side and express my continued interest to my admissions officer. Has anyone been in this situation before? If so, could you offer me a few pointers on how to respond to this?
@mm100597 Tons of people were deferred, including people with better stats – as hard as it is, try not to take it personally. Why are you embarrassed? And as for being upset about not getting a decision, would you rather have had a rejection? (Legitimate question, I know a lot of people find that easier).
There’s something else you’re not mentioning – did you apply for financial aid? F&M is so good about meeting need that it’s unquestionably harder to get in if you require a lot of aid. Of course that’s not the only thing, but it’s a biggie.
Mourn for a few days, then I’d assume you’re not getting in and concentrate on backups. A deferral is not a rejection, but plan for the worst case. I assume you have safeties?
After your head’s cleared a bit, you can email your admissions officer and reiterate your interest. You can have your high school guidance counselor write a note to F&M saying this too. I’m pretty sure they get tons of these emails and they don’t do too much good, but it’s something.
I was waitlisted, I expressed interest through email and I think a phone call. I was accepted sometime after that.
@mm100597 Students are deferred all the time from many different colleges. Look at it in a different way - you still have a chance since you weren’t denied. Email your admission officer and ask if there is any other information she/he would like to have. Repeat that it’s still your first choice. Keep your senior year grades up. Try to stay positive.
don’t be too disappointed @mm100597. ED decisions are tough. whatever the admit percentages, they are actually worse when you factor in the athletic offers and alumni offers. So being in the RD pool is not the end of the world.
If its your #1 school before, it should be your #1 now. chat with your school counselor, and see what you else you can do. If your first semester and midterm grades were good, make sure F&M receives them for sure.
good luck.
