F&M vs. Competitors

<p>I welcome comments on how to distinguish among F&M and other PA liberal arts colleges--Juniata, Susquehanna, Ursinus for example.</p>

<p>Hi Yabe…</p>

<p>We took the entire month of August looking at schools all over the country…two per day most days. We rested on weekends! ; )
The schools you menton are all lovely schools that fit well together on an app list. You have done well. To choose:
I would study the differences in their programs…both academic and EC.
Since my D, like you, crafted an intelligent list from the get-go it is all coming down to location and where you will feel most at home. At this point in the game, stay away from the entrance statistics (GPA, SAT scores and so on…) unless there is a class of 2013 profile at the college website. If it is important to you to know where you rank in the incoming class, you can also call the admissions office for that info.
Your question is a tough on and at this point in the game, it all comes down to feel… You have to visit. Good Luck!
PS: You might also reread the write-up in College That Change Lives [Colleges</a> That Change Lives](<a href=“http://www.CTCL.com%5DColleges”>http://www.CTCL.com). I think most of these schools are recommended on that site. (Great site by the way!)</p>

<p>I appreciate your thoughts. Which did your daughter choose?</p>

<p>Wish I knew! ; ) She is in the middle of that process right now. She is down to four: F&M, Providence College, Eckerd and Rhodes. One other thought for you… Visit FaceBook and read. There are discussions and wall posts that offer an idea of “classmates.” Of course a wall post…is not the best way to judge character…but it is fun! Good luck!</p>
