By now I have received financial aid info from five colleges, with each being a bit different from the next and last. I fully understand that different schools will offer different amounts of FA as well as distributing such amounts between grants and loans, etc. However, I did encounter one question in the process of reviewing the awards. At four of the colleges, I received a Pell grant of $4000 and an SEOG of around $1000. Both of these amounts are federal. However, at one college I got neither a Pell nor an SEOG grant? Why would that one school be different if the money comes from the federal government?

you might be oos for that school and even private schools obligated to give federal aid first to their students. Also schools have some limited number of those money as well, even if they come from federal sources.
