FA for Technically Int. students

ive lived in the US for 15 years and am about to get citizenship in august. problem is, the university i plan on attending's deadlines will have pasted by than. i am looking for a company or a website that can help me find some financing of any sort. the university i plan on attending does not offer any sort of aid to internationals.

Are you a permanent resident right now? If so, ask the university about aid for permanent residents. You should qualify for federal financial aid (federal loans). This means you will need to file a FAFSA

FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid

If you qualify for aid for every reason except the citizenship issue, speak with the financial aid office at the university and find out if they can set the money aside for you pending presentation of your citizenship document(s).

Consider deferring enrollment for a semester or a year. You can work during the time off and save money toward your expenses in college.

Good luck!

not a resident or a citizen. ive been considering taking a gap year/semester pretty hard.

Gap semester/year looks good to me too given your situation. You will need buckets of money to pay for college, and if there is no chance of financial aid now (and your parents aren't filthy rich), you are probably better off waiting until you are eligible.

yea, it seems thats the way its gonna be. thanks alot for the advice, much appriciated.

Can the dept award aid based on your being a citizen by the time school starts? Then you could go in and prove it happened in time. I know some one who moved to a new state in the summer- she was not a resident when she filled out the application for the following fall, but she would be by the time the school year began, yet the question was not phrased that way, but she did end up getting residency
