<p>Students are eligible for Stafford loans as long as they are enrolled on at least at a half time basis. Generally, and particularly for undergraduate programs, schools define “half time” as being in 6-8 credits. </p>
<p>Therefore, your son will be eligible for Stafford Loans if he is in 11 credits. He may not be eligible for the full $6500 if that amount, plus other financial aid resources, (i.e. – federal and state grants, outside scholarships, Perkins loans, etc.) excede the cost of attendance used by his school to determine aid eligibility, but I think that this would be unlikely.</p>
<p>We received written confirmation today that his FA has been processed and his schedule has been “locked in”. A seat became available in the one course he is wait listed in (at #1 on the waiting list) so we’re just awaiting an email saying he can register for the class and then we’re good to go.
