fengyun,

No one has it yet because the increases will still have to go through the NYU Board.

Normally, each year, there is a 3-5% increase in tuition and fees, housing cost and meal plan.

Only 2010-2011 tuition and fees are available for now. 2011-2012 rates will probably not be finalized until June or July (if I recall correctly). Here is the 2010-2011 rates and you can estimate for 2011-2012 by adding 3-5% to the overall cost.

how do you know if you got a scholarship as opposed to purely loans/grants? will it say in the financial aid page on the app portal?

I got a $30,000 scholarship for CAS.

16K for Steinhardt

evolving- Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation!

MY S got two CAS scholarships ($15K and $6K), $3K work/study, and loans for the rest ($59K total). My problem is that for future years, the scholarships are not fixed amounts. One of the criteria for renewing is your financial (FAFSA I’m guessing) situation. We’re making more money this year than last (by a good amount) so I’m guessing that means that $21K may dwindle quite a bit next year and perhaps beyond.

Anyone else have experience with this? If true, I need to account for that in total 4-yr. cost, esp. when compared to other schools. But, this is more than we expected to begin with!

Five years ago, the D of a friend of mine, accepted and gotten $0 from NYU. She enrolled with 50K/yr loan. She worked as an intern on the Wall Street since the freshman year and gotten a job at GS after graduation. Paying off loan is a piece of cake in her case. If you are not willing to work on the WS, the decision would be different.

20k stern scholarship

Does anyone knows why mine is still unavailable? My “To do list” on NYU’s website is blank so i’m assuming that NYU has all it needs to determine my FA.

@user, mines the same it says that it’s not available under the aid year

@kxc
Yeah, but you have to realize how astronomically hard it is to place into Goldman. Very few kids from Stern make it there, it’s not like any and every NYU kid has a shot at getting into the top employer on Wall St. Reality check here.

$15,000 from Steinhardt and $3,000 work/study

Am I understanding correctly that the Steinhardt Scholarship is not a merit, but a financial aid thing that is just for this year?

We have a similar situation with a better financial picture this year than last…so we can’t count on any of the financial aid packages looking the same next year.
