FA suspension and transfering

Hello all. I have been on FA suspension since Spring 2013. I have about 25 credits and going for 16 this semester. I am far behind the 67% completion and have a 2.5 GPA.

To the point. After I finish this semester, could I transfer to a University and start getting FA again? I hear at Universities you start new GPA, etc and then that's recalculated with your CC gpa. Is that true? Because I know transferring to CCs doesn't work to get FA back.

Thanks all

Nobody? I’m trying to clarify without waiting hours in the advising room or 1 week to get an email response. Thanks

SAP completion rate is a federal requirement. You cannot qualify for federal loans or grants without getting your SAP up to the federal standards. They would look at all of your attempted courses at all of your schools.

So does that mean I need to complete my AA first then go to a university to get it to reset and receive FA?

Your GPA will not get “reset” for financial aid purposes. You will need to contact the schools that you wish to transfer to. You have to hear from THEM how your lack of Satisfactory Academic Progress will affect receiving aid at that school. Each school has their OWN SAP requirements in terms of how they deal with this.

Contact the colleges and ask.

No but from what I understand, when you transfer after an A.A you start clean with new GPA, etc. Then that GPA after you complete your bachelor’s is added to your CC GPA and then that’s your final GPA for your 4 year degree.

I live in Florida and will be doing Direct Connect/whatever they call the automatic admission to university after AA.

Sorry if I confused you before.

Yes…most schools do not count transfer courses in their GPA.

But regarding getting financial aid…you have to meet SAP before you will be able to get federally funded aid.
