Facebook snafu

Well…apparently FB, Instagram are experiencing world wide issues today. No kidding! Wondering what that’s all about?

I think Zuck may have pulled the plug, based on the timing, of the 60 Minutes whistleblower interview, last night.

He is crying rivers over his multi-billion $$ loss today…

I agree. No coincidence imo.

The cynic is me says they are purging their servers of content they’d rather not fess up for.

Did you watch “The Social Network” on Netflix? It digs a little deeper (but without the scathing evidence) on the algorithms of engagement or rather addiction. It’s a thought provoking documentary that spurred many great conversations with my family.

FB seems to be working again.

Some commented to me that Zuck tried to delete his search history and ended up deleting Facebook. :upside_down_face:

My Twitter feed was also having some issues with refreshing.

I enjoy all of them. I can live but I don’t want to live without them. I get a lot of enjoyment and learn a lot!

Any word of a hack?

Boo. I think I like the world a little better without Facebook in it. I do use it but now I’m thinking…

Edited to add. Not working on my end. Same old posts as before.

Not a lot of new posts…most from over 6 hours ago. But there are some newbies. I think people are just catching up.

Both are working now.

@teleia social media is a choice…why not just decide to not use it?

It’s not that easy. A number of organizations that I volunteer with organize through Facebook groups. Facebook’s reach is so widespread that it is not a simple personal choice anymore. And Facebook is the only one I use. Does CC count as social media?

I see CC as a social message board.

You can use FB that way too if you clean up your contacts etc. only follow what you want to for your daily life.

I think Facebook is still not working correctly. Someone mentioned me and posted but I can’t see anything new. So I’m thinking it’s still wonky this morning.

I looked on the app which is how I usually view Facebook but logged in on a browser and nada

The biggest loss was WhatsApp, I think, because people all over the world use it for phone calls. That’s what my son in France does. He had scheduled a call with his grandfather but couldn’t make it. We have friends in South Africa and it’s the only app we use to stay in touch with them.

In my small town the local Facebook group is usually filled with posts when we have a power outage (happens quite frequently somewhere in town every storm). Yesterday, we had a big thunderstorm and a short power outage during the Facebook outage. Once Facebook was back up, people were posting about how they didn’t know what to do because the power was out and they had no place to complain about it!

I wonder if we can use the FB snafu to justify unfriending some people lol
