Facebook & Social Life in College

I'm curious to know if Facebook has helped improve, maintain, and/or enhance your social life. This is just something I've been curious about.

I receive most information regarding parties, lectures, guest speakers, TED talks, etc. via Facebook.

I basically organize my entire social life through Facebook…I make plans, find out about parties, etc. It helps keep all my events organized as well. Without it everything would be a lot more complicated (though I won’t be overdramatic and say it wouldn’t be doable, lol). I’d say it’s important as my phone for facilitating my social life.

My roommate added me on facebook when we first got assigned and we got to know each other through it.
Without facebook, I wouldn’t have formed study groups with my classmates or known about upcoming events.
Like RoxSox said, I organize my entire social life through facebook.

Very important. I only know three people who don’t have Facebook accounts at my university (which has a population of about 4,000).

I get messages all the time about various events on campus. And yes, my roommate and I predictably communicated through Facebook as well.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I don’t have Facebook and it was irrelevant to my college social life. Since my school is so small, everyone knows what’s going with or without Facebook. I guess at my school the only benefit to it is getting to know someone better/adding a person you like. The only thing I miss out on is the “gossip” aka who’s dating who, who doesn’t like who, and all that stuff.

But it’s very interesting to see how powerful/helpful FB can be for some people.

FB groups and messaging are great tools to keep track of your social life, organize events, find out about events, etc, since almost everyone involved has a facebook and uses it at least semi-regularly.

facebook is an essential part of social life at my school, don’t know of anybody who doesn’t have one.

Nobody uses xbox/ps3?
Shoot a quick message for all bros to assemble in a CoD party, talk 'bout life while gaming.

I do use Facebook, but messaging on FB is never as fulfilling as a nazi zombie run through.

I didn’t have FB for like 4 months last year, and it really made no difference to my social life, and made me so much more efficient with regards to tasks. BBM’ing and texting are so much more useful. Now that I have FB again (to meet touch with others in my class), I just procrastinate endlessly. -_-

FB definitely helps throughout the school year, but I always knew that if something was happening on campus or a big party, my friends would always let me know when I saw them

facebook helps get through college but embarassing things can end up on the internet too.

just dont do one of these like this guy:
