Facebook stalking...

by adults. It's just ridiculous. Parents, police, administrators, recruiters, etc. have no business obtaining (sometimes fake) college email accounts to track down students. Seriously, the amount of hypocrisy in this world is unbearable. Give me unlimited access to anyone's computer and you can bet I'll find treasure troves of pr0n on some married police officer's personal computer. If they can obtain fake email accounts to track students, then why am I not allowed to hack into some admin's computer and get him busted for all the sketchy media stored on his PC? Let's face it...no one's perfect, and if you witch-hunt hard enough, you can get anyone into trouble.

Some people have even stated that we should treat our Facebooks as a resume? Gimme a phuk'in break.

yeahhh..

at my previous college, a kid in a dorm got seriously beat up and my friends were all questioned. he said the cop also looked at all of their facebooks to see if he could find any more info that could help.

also, yeah.. i saw on the news that you shouldn't put anything on your facebook or myspace that you wouldn't want your parents, school officials, or employers to see. it's crazy how shady everything is getting.

what if you make your account friends-only/private so only people that are your friends can see it? Is that risky too?

Not to mention the fact that whatever people put on there serves as NO indication that they cannot seperate their play time from work time. Just because someone has a few dirty jokes with friends shouldn't suggest they cannot get down to business and work.

I think that I got friended by one of these cops. What I now assume to be a cop posed themselves as an incredibly hot, young, female going to Dartmouth. I found it peculiar that I had never seen this person before and that this person had friended various other people from my town. What was also weird was that this person had no wall to write on. Some time ago this person disappeared....well that's my random story.

I've heard that people have been fired because employers have found incriminating pictures on myspace and whatnot...it's pretty crazy.

facebook is still the internet. People have this gross misconception that the internet is a private place. It isn't and it shouldn't be. Get over it.

I completely agree with you, banana.

same :).
You can bypass any authentication system easily.
