Facebook time!

For all of the CC appointees who plan on attending USAFA, join the Facebook group “USAFA CCers”. That way we can all stay in contact!

For your convenience, here’s the link:

you're so good.

okay, so i'm a total freak and i didn't exactly put my real name when i made my facebook oh-so-long-ago. so i just applied for membership to that group. but it's a nickname of mine, so it's not like completely made up. just thought y'all'd like that beautiful story :)

Here's something which can give you all nightmares: I have a facebook and I use it... a lot. ;)

Now, before panic sets in, I'll (almost) promise not to join your little group. :)

Class of 2012 beware: While the cc group on facebook is a safe place, other AFA groups (especially the 2012 groups) should be avoided. If anything, join for a little, add some of your future classmates to you friends list, and then get out.

If you decide to join a group, be careful what you say. Upperclassman and your future bct cadre can see and sometimes are members of those groups. Therefore if you are going to post something for the entire world to see, make sure it is not something which could be used against you.

My escort at orientation told me that there are people who join those groups and make comments such as "bct will be a joke" just to stir things up and get others to say it too.

Also in one of the other groups I was in, a girl got into a heated argument with a bunch of AFA cadets who then sent the whole conversation to the BCT cadre.

So be careful what you say and make sure your profile is private!

i disagree. please write w/e remarks about our classes you want. it amkes it mroe fun for us throughout basic!

lol. obviously i'm joking (especially since i won't be there for any basic fun). be carfeul. a girl in my squad was one of the "My Space" kids, and we got crap for it through all of basic. (we hated her for it, along with other things)

G4C and myself have set the CC facebook group to a private setting, only members of the group can see the posts. Still be wary, but you do have much more freedom on it.

yeah, i mean cmon guys just use common sense :)

I too had a "myspace basic" in my flight...imagine doing the A-course 4 times in a row...

Yeah...and don't have a picture on your mySpace page of you with the caption "Livin' on the Edge". My classmates know what I'm talking about...

A guy in my Basic squad had a picture on his mySpace page of him trying to look like a hot shot, with a F-22 behind him, lightning bults everywhere, and the caption, "Livin' on the Edge". He got crap about that from Basic all the way up until Recognition...and he had to ride the buses on I-day 4 times with the BCT Group Commander (the same position Cadet Curry will have).

Wow, all I can say is "ouch!"

Yep. We're pretty lenient on CC (though I am 2nd BCT cadre), but be careful with other groups.

haha. I had the pleasure of meeting the "livin' on the edge" cadet during orientation. He was a member of the squad i stayed in

Okay, STOP, hold the phone.......MOM question:

Why would anyone have to ride the "I-day" bus FOUR times????

Don't complain flymom, at least it's free! ;)

HUh???!!

Seriously, where do they go that they have to ride it four times? ...I'm so confused! I thought they only had ONE hellish trip on that bus--do they just drive around to make it just one looooong hellish ride?????

Sorry, let me explain. On I-day, the new Basics say goodbye to their parents at Doolittle hall, and then get on a school bus to get up to the Cadet Area. During the ride on the bus, the new basics are taught the 7 Basic responses and taught the position of attention when sitting down. After they get to the cadet area, the new basics get off the bus and go stand on "the footsteps", where they truly begin BCT.

Even though there are multiple buses picking up basics, the buses make multiple runs. So, when the Cadre noticed this guy I was talking about, they didn't let him get off the bus, and instead made him just stay on the buses a couple times. So it's like he had to ride the bus 4 times.

Ahhhhh, so he had more time to learn the lessons on the 7 basic responses....gotcha! Thanks for elaborating Falcons '11. This is all just hitting me hard today. I better just stop reading for awhile. Flymom is getting sad... :(

It will be OK Flymom. Soon you will have the comfort of the 2012 Yahoo group, the CC family and the ups/downs of doolie year. We promise it will be OK though.

:( Thanks ds....but please explain it to my tear ducts!! :(

Okay, back to facebook talk.
