I was wondering if any other college CCers are on www.thefacebook.com? It's a neat website for college networking and such...i've actually met some friends/reconnected with old friends through facebook. lots of fun.

BTW if you are on and you want to add me, my name is Noelle Fredrickson and i'm at McGill :)

Definitly addictive. One night while procrastinating, I found that over a third of my school was on it, and that was months ago. It gives me way too much desire to procrastinate.

the best way to procrastinate is to find fake ppl to be friends with, such as:
Jack Daniels
George Washington
Thomas Jefferson
Legolas
Faramir
the Hokie Bird (VT's mascot)
Duke Dog (JMU's mascot)
Cartman
Dumbledore
Alexander the Great
etc.

Haha, it is addictive... It's similar to MySpace, except with less pervs and obsessive friend adders, I hope. You guys should make make a facebook group, like "CC Junkies" or something.

Great way to waste time and put off doing things. It was addicting the first two months, but luckily its power over me has decreased. Too bad you can't see who's been active the last 15 minutes anymore. People no longer feel the need to spend as little time on it as possible.

You're lured into spending hours looking up anyone that you can think of who's in college - people in your classes, people who went to your high school, people that you were friends with in second grade - in addition to updating and re-updating your profile information and (for some people) creating profiles of movie/book characters, stars, etc. It's ridiculous how much time the thing can eat up.

wait i just got accepted to stanford, and i plan to attend, but can i joint he facebook yet? do i have to wait until im officially matriculated?

You can join as soon as you have your Stanford email address and account set up. All facebook requires is that you have an email address from one of their participating schools.

Anyone into Friendster? I am thinking about joining Facebook but all these comments about it being really addicting is kind of detering me. I'm the type to get addicted to online stuff. I used to find Friendster addicting, which really isn't all that fun. I'm staying away for now.

haha the thing is EVERYONE talks about it, so you're pretty left out if you're not on the facebook. And I've totally used it to get in touch with people I've needed to get in touch with... it's really useful.
