Oh yes, absolutely I would do it. I haven’t yet figured out how much difference the additional peripheral vision will be in everyday life. But I’m sure it made a difference on our recent trip for my nephew’s wedding. And OMG did I feel better seeing all the relatives whom I hadn’t seen in years. Much more comfortable in my looks.
I’m still recovering sleep from my travels and having to share room with snoring husband so don’t yet know the effect on daily fatigue.
Admittedly, even though I had extensively researched, there were a few surprises post op in how I felt in the scalp incisions. And having to sleep somewhat upright for several days and on my back for weeks was difficult. I followed not only my doctor’s guidelines but several others I found in my research. And at my 10 day check up, my surgeon said I was way ahead of schedule re bruising and swelling and that I had done a great job. Whew.
My scalp, brows, and upper lids still have numbness which will last for maybe months. But honestly, the only times I really got upset were first when I couldn’t get all the ointment washed out of my bangs, along with the final blood clots. I was being very careful not to disturb my incisions. But finally a combination of glycerin soap and Dawn dish soap did the trick (more successful research). Then I was also upset when I couldn’t focus clearly, worried that somehow the shape of my cornea had changed. The first person I talked to at the office couldn’t give an explanation. But the next person I talked to (after the weekend of worry) assured me it was not uncommon and temporary. There was that much more light coming in. Again whew.
