I'm undecided for both. Which school would you guys recommend for a guy that doesn't really know what he'll be doing in 10 years?

First year in Desautels (4 year program) is arts and science courses anyway.

If I wanted to go into med school, would it really matter where I went?

If your goal is med school, I don’t see how you could have stretched to commerce 0.o
I’m not sure how it works in Canada for med school (klmnop might be able to reply for that), but I think you mentioned you were Canadian so you’re safe on that at least.

Be aware that for med school, you need to do an admissions test on your knowledge of sciences, so I don’t think Desautels would be appropriate.

You can do any major for med school as long as you do your pre-reqs (Bio, Gen Chem, Org Chem, Phys… and some schools require english and humanities courses as well). Canadian Med is very competitive so expect to need a 3.7+ with a 32+ MCAT. Most Science courses are limited to the faculties of each arts and science, thus management students don’t really have the option to take them i believe. You may want to look into something else if you are serious about med school.

Don’t know if this matters to you or not-

but Management is roughly $9,000 or $10,000 more than Arts & Sciences.

Had the exact same issue as you. I comitted to Desautels a few days ago, simply because, like someone said before, the first year is the same in both faculties anyways due to required U0 courses. Also, I’ve heard its easier to switch from Desautels to Arts&Science than the other way around since the Bcom program is one of McGill’s most selective one. But then again, if you don’t know what to do maybe Arts and Science would be a better idea right away since it offers a more broad selection of courses?
