faculty of science frosh

when I got my package I only recieved the SSMU frosh package and the radical frosh.. could someone please give me the number for the faculty of science frosh so i can call and ask why i didnt get one?

okay.. I called Roslyn Freeman (VP of Communications and Events) and i was impressed because she called me back in like 10 minutes.. anyways.. she just said no worries.. the SSMU frosh thing was sent out about a week or two before the science faculty frosh, she said they are a little behind.. so if everyone hasnt gotten it or jsut got thier SSMU frosh it should be relative and that you should get it in a little bit.. if not she told me to look onlyine at the Sceince Undergrad Society of McGill website and that I should find either a # to contact or an application.. hope this helps anyone in the same situation

Hey Guys,

I thought I'd get it all cleared out for y'all regarding all the Frosh (orientation week) events.

Move-in day: get into your rez- meet people... its a tradition that first year residences all go out to Saint-Sulpice on St. Denis (a huge outdoor pub-beergarten) fun times...
Discovery McGill is a one-day event run by the University where they put everyone together and have the Principal and SSMU execs talk to first years about various things- and then you have a pizza lunch on the Campus Greens and then divide into Faculties and have orientation with your Deans and Student Societies... Pretty simple, that evening you'll go out with your residence.
Faculty Frosh- starts the day following Discover McGill, this is a bunch of partying and fun activities run by your student societies and full of debauchery and good times. This goes for three days usually.
SSMU Frosh- this is run by the Students' Society of McGill University (SSMU) this is campus wide with all first year faculty students' participating... it's pretty intense. Lots of Food, unlimited Beer, music, and pub crawls and trips to various clubs/bars. Other activies such as an outdoor carnival and group games as well as a river rafting trip (intense)!
If this isn't for you and you're more into doing something that could help you intelectually there are various other froshes: Radical Frosh is for the political activist/vegan/alternative lifestyle type, lectures, activism, vegan food et all.
Fish Frosh- is run by the Christian Coalition... I think thats obvious. Theres a few "froshes" run by various groups as well... you'll see them advertising during Faculty Froshes.

You can attend both Faculty and SSMU froshes... and I advise you to.
Make sure to register ahead of time.
g'luck

what did the SSMU frosh package look like? I got the SUS one but i don't think the ssmu stuff

yeah, same, I have gotten SUS stuff for science, but not stuff for SSMU frosh. I am just going to get the registration form online, but why didn't I get one? Weird.

pertheusual--where can u find the registration form online?

How do we sign up for radical frosh? Does anyone know?

Okay, nevermind. I found it. For anyone interested, they finally updated the site - all the info is here: http://ssmu.mcgill.ca/qpirg/radicalfrosh/registration.html

Does this sound like a really awesome time to anybody else??

I'm so excited! partying all night every night sounds great! I haven't received the SSMU frosh package either, but if I don't get it on monday I think I'll download the form online (which is the middle of the monopoly board on the frosh website..whose link is in one of these other threads).

just wait.. i was worried about getting my sceince frosh and lo and behold it came in the mail the next day.. it would be really odd if you have recieved ur faculty and not SSMU as ros told me they were sent out earlier than the rest.. but no biggie.. id get on the SSMU frost because registration before aug 1 means 10$ less to pay

k so i finally found the SSMU frosh website...duh! so easy..i'm retarded...anyhoo it says $55, how much do we pay if we're writing a US cheque? i know for SUS, it was $65 canadian and $55 US. so do we just subtract $10 off the ssmu one too?

oo, good question. How much is it in US dollars? Anyone have any idea or do we have to look up exchange rates or something

This is a good currency converter: http://www.xe.com/ucc/

I bookmarked it and use it all the time.

cool, thanks

they probably have a set value for if you're writing in US funds..otherwise everybody would be writing a different number depending on which day they checked the exchange rate. You might want to ask them about that.

i called the ssmu office and they said for US funds, just convert it using the exchange rate on the date that you write the cheque. but the guy said they're not even gonna check so my dad wrote the cheque today and $55 canadian was $45 US :)
