I accidentally filled out the 2009-2010 FAFSA form instead of the 2010-2011 FAFSA form. It's already been processed. Will everything be alright? I indicated I was a high school senior on there...

No. You have to do the 2010-2011 FAFSA. The 2009-2010 FAFSA will not count as having applied for financial aid for the 2010-2011 school year or for meeting any deadlines your school or state has. No financial aid for 2010-2011 can be awarded based on the 2009-2010 FAFSA.

Oh no. What should I do? The financial aid deadlines have already passed… They’re received my CSS though…

You should just file it right now. Then call the school(s) on Monday and let them know. They’ll tell you if it’s a problem.

Is it true that a FAFSA that is processed at a later date receives less financial help? This is really upsetting considering that I filled out my FAFSA in December…

Do the correct FAFSA NOW. Call the school and explain what you did. I’m sure you aren’t the first one who has made the same mistake.

Not necessarily. It depends on the policies of the school. It certainly does not mean you’d get a smaller federal Pell grant than you’d otherwise be entitled to, but as far as schools making allocations of aid from other limited resources… it just depends. There’s no way to know that without asking the schools directly. Just get it in ASAP and then call and ask.

Thank you very much! :)
