I’m a CCC transfer student applying this November to UC and CSU schools to be admitted for Fall of 2016. When determining my financial aid, will whatever school i’m admitted to be looking at my 2015-2016 FAFSA report or the 2016-2017 FAFSA report?
2016-17 fafsa which will be available 1/1/16.
The FAFSA is the same one as for the academic year for which you are seeking aid. So if you are looking for aid for the 2016-2017 school year, you would do the 2016-2017 FAFSA which will be available Jan 1, 2016
@thumper1 Okay, but if I’ll be attending a CSU or a UC in August of 2016, would my financial aid be based off of my 2015-2016 FAFSA report or the 2016-2017 FAFSA report that I’m filing on January 1st? Or is the time frame for the 2015-2016 FAFSA report just from 1/1/2015-1/1/2016 and after I file my 2016-2017 FAFSA, that’s what UC’s/CSU’s will be looking at to determine how much financial aid I will receive?
The 2016-2017 fafsa, while available to be submitted on 1/1/16, is for the aid period 7/1/16 to 6/30/17. Some schools consider summer sessions to be at the end of an aid period, some at the beginning. If fall semester 2016 begins in August, it is the 2016-2017 fafsa that will be used.
@annoyingdad Thank you!
