FAFSA 2019-2020 Question 44d

Hi all,

I’m completely confused by this question.

“Student college grant and scholarship aid reported to the IRS in your income. Includes AmeriCorps benefits (awards, living allowances, and interest accrual payments), as well as grant and scholarship portions of fellowships and assistantships”

I understand what it’s asking, but when I clicked the question mark to determine which line from my tax form to report it says to report the line that is my adjusted gross income (it was about $8,000, which is a different amount than what i received for grants/scholarships).

So do I just put that amount?

No. IF you had taxable scholarships for 2017 tax year they would be found on the adjusted gross income line, included in the total but also printed on the side of the total.

Looks like this: Income…(Sch $2000)… $8000

You may not have had any taxable scholarships.
