FAFSA: Adding schools 11+ after the first 10 and the update after you file the taxes.

I know you can do ‘corrections’ to the FAFSA to go over the first 10. The FAFSA has been submitted with 10 and the letter in the mail came today and we have the Student EFC on line. What I’m not seeing (I realize it is probably right in front of me, apologies), how do I know when I can delete a few colleges and add a few more to send the FAFSA too? The form on FAFSA says my application was saved, but how do I know if/when they got to the first colleges 1-10 so that I can delete a few of them and add then add colleges 11, 12, and 13? Do I need to email a few on the 1-10 category to see if they got it? Also, my taxes will be filed in about 10 days so I will need to do the ‘corrections’ with the IRS Data Retriever tool–If I have deleted colleges 8-10 and replaced them with 11-13, how will colleges 8-10 get the updated FAFSA, or would I need to upload them to colleges 8-10 again? A few of colleges 11-13 have 2/1/16 submission deadlines for financial aid. Thank you for clarifying this.

From what I understand once you get the student aid report (SAR) you can delete some school codes and add new ones and submit again.

Then when you correct the FAFSA to change “will file” to “taxes filed” and use IRS retrieval tool you have to submit to one set of schools and then wait again for SAR and then submit to remaining schools.

So the schools with earlier deadlines and maybe your state schools, I would make sure to submit the updated FAFSA with imported tax info to first.
