My mom works for the world bank and because of the nature of the company, she is not required to file income taxes. I know it's a bit of a unique situation but how should I complete my financial aid forms? What should I do for colleges that require tax forms?

Also my parents are divorced and my father lives outside of the US so he does not file taxes either. What should I do for this situation?

Thanks

Are you and your parents are the US citizen or green card holder?

Your parents have income, so report that on the appropriate lines.

Each parent can also file a Non-Tax Filer Statement that reports the amount(s) of income, the sources, and the reasons why taxes aren’t filed. Here is a link to one so you know what questions they are likely to be asked: http://gwired.gwu.edu/finaid-g/merlin-cgi/p/downloadFile/d/27285/n/off/other/1/name/STCERT_1314pdf/

I’d also suggest that your mom ask around at her office. Surely she has lots of colleagues who have faced this same issue when their kids went to college.

Good luck with everything!
