FAFSA and Felony

I have already received my AA and I’m trying to go back for my bachelors. I was convicted of a white collar crime and was sent federal prison. Since I’ve been home (Almost 3 years) I’ve been working full-time with no other contact with law enforcement, i will like to apply for finical aid and need some clarification, will i get denied. I have a non-violent charge I’m two months from being off of probation. At the time of my conviction i was not receiving any governmental assistance, from my understanding you can’t be convicted of any drug related offense or sexual offense can someone please clear this up for me? thanks in advance.

You are eligible for any federal student aid, as long as you are no longer in custody and you haven’t been convicted of a drug-related offense or an offense that requires you to register as a sex offender. Since neither is the case with you, then you’re in good shape to get aid. But you should talk to the lawyer on your case to make sure.

Thanks for the clarification, i truly appreciate the quick response.
