D had tax due which we paid electronically and her DRT was available within two weeks this year.
@OHMomof2 you say you paid electronically. That is different than mailing in a check. If someone mails a check, it takes a LONG time for the DRT to become available…even when the check clears.
Many colleges require the DRT, but you can also provide a tax transcript. If you are selected for verification, you must submit a DRT or tax transcript or your Pell Grant won’t be released. It’s federal law.
If the paper returns with check payment are being processed last in line a tax transcript might not be available yet either.
I would check for the clearing of the payment and keep trying the DRT.
The DRT is not just for convenience, it links the tax return to the FAFSA and transfers the numbers directly from the tax return.
Yes I understand that @thumper1. But the post I was responding to (#19) said their congressional office said " the IRS typically didn’t do any processing where payments were made until June. " - not anything about method of payment. So I shared my experience that my electronic payment didn’t slow it down.
