Hi, so I submitted my FAFSA early in Feburary 2010.

And so I put my 2010 Gross Adjusted Income as 80k. And now that it's April, somehow, the system decided to change it to 57k.

I know for sure that I haven't turned in any Financial Aid forms to any of the schools. So it eliminates the possibility of the schools updating my information.

So is there a reason why the system changed my Gross Adjusted Income? And will I be penalized or anything if there's false information?

I also received a corrected updated SAR report fromFAFSA.
Did you file your income taxes to the IRS ?
I always assumed that gov agencies cross check with each other, once your info is in their system. Having a lower AGI for FAFSA can only help your situation, assuming it wasnt a mistake.

No, the IRS does not transfer any info to the FAFSA unless you request that it be transfered (and you have to use your PIN to do it). There was a reprocessing effort this weekend, but it should not have affected any info such as your AGI.

Very strange. You might want to call the FAFSA number & ask if a school updated your information. They can tell you which school made changes. If it was a school, you should contact them to find out why they updated this figure.
