FAFSA - Complete even if EFC is high?

Let me start with an apology - I'm sure this question has been asked and answered a hundred times - I just can't find it.
Is there any reason to complete and submit an FAFSA if your EFC is higher than the cost of any college your child is applying to?
Specifically, can you get student loans even if you don't "need" them (according to the EFC) without submitting an FAFSA?
Thanks.

You must file the FAFSA in order to get stafford loans

OK, 'fraid of that. Is it too late to submit now?

no, it is not too late

If you are only interested in Stafford loans then you can file anytime before school starts (and even after that).

Need them for PLUS now too.
