I had filed my FAFSA before march 1, or whatever the deadline in march is. I live abroad and have a hard time communicating, due to the time zones, with my parents who are in california but do not know english that well. At the bottom of the FAFSA form for 2010-2011, there was a place for parents to sign their pin, if i remember correctly, it said i could sign it myself, so i did. now, one of the colleges said it needs parent signature. Even though I'm not going to that school, the school i'm going to wont let me see my financial aid status until I registered.

I am worried about how to sign the FAFSA correction since i could not find where to sign the parents signature anywhere there.

To sign the FAFSA you, the student, should have applied for and received a pin number that you used when you submitted the FAFSA. The same for your parents…one of your parents should have applied for and received a pin number that would have been put into the form prior to submitting. Yes, in theory, you could sign the FAFSA for your parents if that is what they wanted you to do, but you would have needed to use their pin number which would be different than “your” pin number. I believe it asks if it is the mother signing or the father and you fill that out, type the pin and hit submit. Both parents do not need a pin, just one of them.

So no matter what, I need a parent signature? I remember it said I could just sign it myself, otherwise how could it let me send it off.
