so in order for me to meet my schools deadline, I had submitted estimated information about my parents income and my income. once my parents got the taxes done, I saw I had overestimated both the income and tax paid! no wonder my EFC was looking too low...

I submitted my corrections a few days ago, since I don't want to be tried for fraud.

will the college/financial office throw away my old SAR and use the corrected one? last thing I need is getting more money than I deserve. (I have a conscience you know :) ) also will I need to send in my tax forms to prove the info is correct?

thank you!

Yes they will use the corrected data. They will ask you if they want your tax data.

I see. I figured they wouldn’t even take the old SAR for granted only because I answered “will file” on the tax form questions (I obviously changed it when I corrected my FAFSA).

my school had not created an award letter for me yet, so i figured they were waiting for the right data.

EDIT: I also saw that the school would contact me for verification if needed, so I will wait and see.

Out of curiosity, why don’t all schools do 100% verification? I see on this site that most schools only do 30%. just not enough time/resources I assume?

The law only requires them to so 30%. When you consider that some large State schools have 30,000 or more students that is quite a lot.
