FAFSA/CSS profile, due today?

^^^ was going to check but the site is down!

Yes, it's due today. I turned it in too.

Are you sure CSS is due Feb 1st, and FAFSA march 1st, because i still havent even received my pin, ahhh

I thought the FAFSA and CSS PROFILE were both due 2/1. Can anybody confirm?

For US and Canadian citizens and permanent US residents see this page for deadlines:
<a href="http://www.fao.fas.harvard.edu/application_instruct_us.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.fao.fas.harvard.edu/application_instruct_us.htm</a></p>

Foreign citizens financial aid info is here: <a href="http://www.fao.fas.harvard.edu/application_instruct_foreign.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.fao.fas.harvard.edu/application_instruct_foreign.htm</a></p>

If anyone has missed the deadline, you might as well go ahead and apply for financial aid. I have no idea what will happen but perhaps they would overlook it. Hopefully someone who has experience in this area will post.

dacquaah21, we got our PINs through e-mail right away. Hopefully you have yours by now. If not, you can go ahead and fill out FAFSA without a PIN so it will be ready to go just as soon as you get one. You can go ahead with Profile, of course, and probably already have.

question: why wouldn't you just pick your own PIN?? I just chose a 4-digit number or whatever it was. I don't understand why people wait for a PIN instead of just choosing a number... really, can someone explain what is the point of doing that????

Your PIN is tied to your SSN, name, date of birth, etc. I think, so it's more a security measure than anything. Although I've only seen 4-digit numbers, and I get the slight feeling that there are more than 9999 college-bound seniors in the US...

I got my PIN immediately over the Internet.

March 1

The following materials are needed to apply for all financial aid funds administered by the Committee on Financial Aid. Please note the deadlines below. All applicants will need to submit final 2007 tax return information by March 1, 2008 in order to receive an award in April. Late submission of tax forms will ordinarily result in later award notification.

An application for financial aid will in no way jeopardize your chances for admission; however, late applications for aid cannot be assured of full consideration in time for the admissions reply deadline. Should your financial situation change, and you no longer wish to be considered for financial aid, please notify us in writing. Please keep photocopies of all materials for your own records.

Anyone miss the deadline?
I sure did. We didn't get our tax stuff till 1/31~
Is that the end of my Harvard dream? What is the penalty for sending them in late?

Aah I Missed The Deadline! What Now?

SUBMIT RIGHT NOW

if you missed the deadline, just submit ASAP (as in today). I don't know if they'll still take it into consideration, though my guess is that they will. I'd say, submit today, then maybe contact them about it.

my impression from reading their financial aid material is that Feb. 1 is more of a guideline...it's not like they are going to make a decision on your aid package in February...if you get accepted, then they'll forward your stuff to the Financial Aid office...just my two cents.

Yeah.. i thought that Feb 1st would be a "guideline" date. The CSS/PROFILE was due Jan 10th or something for Wellesley.. it sent it on the 20th (received by the 25th) and Wellesley didn't have a problem with that.

Oh, and the tax return stuff that is due by March 1st.. do they mean 2006 or 2007 tax returns/W-2s? My parents don't have their 2007 tax returns done yet!

it's just a guideline?
whew i feel SO much better
I just got done (basically spent most of the day doing them). I'm about to hit submit for both CSS and FAFSA right .... NOW!

....................................

so you guys submitted by 2/1? because it takes a week for them to process and actually send to the colleges? so which date matters? the date you submit or the date it actually gets sent to the college?

Me 3. I missed the deadline...gotta fill it out now i guess.

I submitted the FAFSA and CSS early, but I haven't sent the correction form for the FAFSA. Does that mean my app is technically not done? The only thing I need to correct really is my 2007 tax stuff and a proof of citizenship.
