My daughter's financial aid forms (fafsa/css) are due on 2/1, 2/15 or 3/1 depending on the school. A couple of schools specifically indicate that forms should be done after income taxes so they won't need to deal with corrections. Another school (which is "need blind" said that the application won't be evaluated until the entire application including the financial aid forms are submitted. So what to do?

Oh and 1/31st is the first date that IRS is processing tax forms this year, delayed due to the shutdown.

Should we only list 2/1 schools on fafsa and css and then correct after the income taxes are finalized and add the other schools? Is this possible?

Thank you!

Get your taxes done ASAP, and submit them all to comply with the earliest deadline, if possible.

A college writes “Although the FAFSA may be filed any time after January 1st, we suggest you file your FAFSA after you have filed your Federal taxes in order to take advantage of the IRS Retrieval Tool (and prior to March 1st). By doing so, you will potentially reduce the need for future corrections and will limit additional requirements requested by our office.”

Well, I’m going to have to do income taxes without all the information (since some tax forms aren’t ready until end of January) and will probably need to make corrections. Can I wait for the corrections before I send to 3/1 deadline schools?
