While filling out the FAFSA i got stuck on the question "Is either of your parents a dislocated worker?"

My mom has been unemployed for the entire year while my dad still works. I live with both of them but my dad signs the electronic form.

The instructions say "Answer this question about the parent who is completing the application" and I'm not sure if that means i should answer that question only in respect to my dad.

If you use both your parents on the FAFSA (that is, if they are married) and one is “unemployed” as described in the dislocated worker explanation, you can answer that one of your parents is a dislocated worker. It doesn’t matter whose PIN you use.

If your mother has been a stay at home mom, she is not technically “unemployed.” That is why I stated that she must fit the description of unemployed as it relates to dislocated worker status.
