@thumper1, yes I’m a US Citizen living abroad but for admission in schools in world other than US, I’ll be a international student elsewhere. I Did apply to NUS Singapore and got accepted. I still live in India only. Don’t worry about it, it’s off the table now.
Oh…so you mean that for Singapore NUS you would be an international student. Yep…that’s correct.
Your post was not clear.
@GuessME5 I would keep your guaranteed full rides like Toledo and just be patient until people who are knowledgeable can respond.
Did UNC and UVA come out as affordable on the NPC? That would be surprising.
@GuessME5 Are you going to be asking for fee waivers?
@gearmom, thank you very much for connecting me with the experts. I really appreciate your help. Will hold Toledo until I hear from the experts.
Yes, I ran the NPC twice each for UVA & UNC and they’re affordable with all values plugged in.
this is not true- I know many states will at least offer you in state tuition if your academics is solid- which his are
@gearmom, I wish I got fee waivers but I don’t know the process (I can Google it though). Is it possible to get fee waivers from a foreign, NON-US high school principal? I had to change HS thrice, so can I get it from any principal or only the current one?
I don’t know whether to ask or not.
Will fee waivers hurt my chances?
@TCUSMU He needs a full ride. Instate rates don’t help. He is struggling with the app fees.
@GuessME5 Fee waivers don’t hurt you. Hopefully one of our experts with walk you through this.
@TCUSMU, could help me out with which states are those?
Not clear what you are saying here.
There are NOT many states that simply offer instate tuition at their public universities because academics are solid.
there’s a exception process to go under for NCPs, but the chances of being approved is very low.
Yes, this student can apply for a non-custodial parent waiver. Is up to EACH school to determine whether to grant this…or not.
This has already been discussed in this thread…upstream in the 9 pages of posts.
“Toledo is giving a full ride for my merit profile. I checked it on their website.” Where did you find this? All the information I can find is for students starting Fall of 2018.
While OP is a US citizen, his/her application will be read by the admission advisor who reads applications for India and will be evaluated against those students. OP will only have the benefit of having a need blind admissions process.
Application fee waivers are just one part of the equation
Applying to college can be very expensive; you must send scores
if any of your schools require the profile, you must pay for each school( because you are not a domestic applicant you are not eligible for fee waivers)
If your transcripts are not in english, they must be translated and sealed
Take Stony Brook off the list, you will not get the money.
@sybbie719, thanks for the info.
As for Stony Brook, I ran their NPC and it showed an affordable picture. While they aren’t giving any grant, it’s their Provostial Scholarship and Valedictorian Scholarship that I’m eligible for which is covering 70% of the cost. And I’m not yet speaking of the Presidential scholarship which is competitively awarded.
That’s the reason why Stony Brook was a strong contender on my list.
@BuckeyeMWDSG, their full ride scholarship has been there since 2 years I’ve been tracking it. It’s my prediction that it ain’t going nowhere next year. And if it goes away, it’s okay as I have several full rides on my list, not speaking of the reach schools.
@GuessME5 How do you figure a full ride for Utah? Also UT Tyler isn’t automatic. They would have to select you if funds are available.
@GuessME5 Can you link to the full ride scholarship for Toledo. I see this https://www.utoledo.edu/admission/freshman/scholarships/2018/
@sybbie719 do Vals from OOS get that scholarship at Stony Brook?
Are you the parent or the student?
