My son's FAFSA was selected for verification and the process is still not complete. He submitted 2 corrections and the school also submitted a correction. Could anyone please tell me why there is still an asterisk after his EFC?

As I recall from being verified last year, I don’t think the asterisk ever goes away on the SAR. You should be able to look online on the school site at your son’s financial aid status to see if there is still anything outstanding your son needs to do. Did you and your son use the FAFSA Data Retrieval Tool or send the school tax transcripts? Often the need to do these things is sent via email or posted on the student’s school account. What kind of corrections did your son and the school do?

The school asked for verification using the Data Retrieval Tool which I was finally able to do last weekend. My son will be a freshman so I am very concerned he has not received a FA packet yet. Should I be worried or will the school award him soon since his verification is complete?

The asterisk will not go away. It stays all year. I assume the school also has a verification worksheet that must be completed - if everything required has been submitted & the DRT is complete, I imagine the package will be ready very soon. Have your son watch his online portal (if the school has one).
