FAFSA for 08-09 school year to have up to 10 schools???

I just got off the phone with a FAFSA representative and she told me that the FAFSA for the 08-09 school year will allow you to list up to 10 schools. Anyone knows if there is any truth to it?

I would say that if you heard it from a FAFSA representative, it is probably true.

yea thats what i was thinking but she sounded really dumb and gave me a bunch of false information on some other stuff…so im just making sure

well he or she at fafsa needs glasses, because i just looked at the pdf version of the offical fafsa form and it only lists 4 slots for colleges!!

go to: studentaid.ed.gov, click “2008-09 fafsa filing options” and then click “pdf” on the page and see for yourself.

jenny, these guys sound familiar.

i remember now, i did receive communication from these fools and i distinctly remember throwing their letters in the trash!!

i suggest that others who have receive letters from these scam artists do the same.

Please be careful of the following because this happened to us last year. S applied to 10 schools. Did this on FAFSA in 2 or 3 batches. One school “changed” his FAFSA numbers–their change was incorrect and I battled endlessly with them. However, when that ONE school changes the number, the “corrected” (by them) new FAFSA info and EFC are sent to ALL the other schools that were in that batch.

I find this absolutely ludicrous–one school can incorrectly enter one’s account, make erroneous changes, and the changed EFC is sent to all schools in the batch. Preparing F/A info for 10 schools was a nightmare and I am so happy to do it for 1 school this year!

i hated putting down 6 schools on the fafsa where 1 mistake by the school can screw up the works…

thankfully i have only 1 school to worry about, so if i decide to transfer mid-year i will just replace the old school with the new school on the fafsa.

See my post: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/442472-numbver-schools-allowed-receive-fafsa-info.html</a></p>

This years’s form (Section 5 - Schools to Receive Information), gives you room for 10 schools, so I guess the FAFSA representative is correct.

Here’s a link (at bottom) to the 08/09 FAFSA worksheet online, and it does include spaces (and question subnumbers) for up to 10 schools:

[FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/FOTWWebApp/complete013.jsp)

that’s only the worksheet…i am looking at the paper FAFSA for 08-09 and it has slots for only 4 schools.

if you doubt me go to studentaid.ed.gov and click “fafsa filing options”. it will take you to the site where you can download the official FAFSA form for 08-09.

Paper FAFSA has room for only 4 schools. The online FAFSA will have spots for 10 this year.

[Completing the FAFSA 08-09/The Application Questions(86-97)](http://studentaid.ed.gov/students/publications/completing_fafsa/2008_2009/ques7.html)

i guess that the above ends all doubt about 4 vs 10 slots on the fafsa.

oh well…

What if you want to apply for more than 10

Then you submit with the 10, let the FAFSA be processed and get the SAR (a few days, typically), and then do a FAFSA correction subbing the adtl schools for some of the origs. Just remember that if you later do a correction to update income information after taxes are done, that you’ll need to do it twice to get all the schools the correct income info.
