I forgot to check that I qualify for the free-reduced lunch program on my FAFSA and they won't let me change it.

Does it affect my financial aid?

I forgot to check that I qualify for the free-reduced lunch program on my FAFSA and they won't let me change it.

Does it affect my financial aid?

It depends on the rest of your financial situation. If your income was low enough that qualifying for free lunch (along with other factors) gave you an automatic 0 EFC, you would be eligible for Full pell. Depending on your EFC, the higher your EFC, the less pell you are eligible for.

When did you submit it? It takes a couple days for it to process. When you are notified it has processed you can update it.

It was already processed. So free lunch is calculated into their formula? D: I tried to make changes but the option was grayed out

Free lunch isn’t in the formula, but it can make it easier to get a 0 EFC if you are low income. Did you check a box earlier in that set of questions? I don’t remember exactly but I think all you need is the ability to file 1040A or 1040EZ and one of a number of other qualifying conditions to get an auto 0 EFC or simplifield means test? If you checked something earlier that qualified you, the food stamp question may be grayed out and not necessary.

Do you have an EFC of 0? If you receive food assistance (called SNAP on the FAFSA now), that would make the answer to free lunch irrelevant.

No, I don’t my EFC is like 6020 haha

With an EFC of $6020, you are not Pell eligible

You are not able to change the answer because your answer to this question won’t change anything. Your parents’ AGI is more than $49,999 - correct? For this reason, the answer to the question makes no difference in the EFC formula & therefore there is no need for a correction.

Ohh. Kind of off topic, but will I be calgrant eligible ? I know if I go to a UC there’s a blue and gold opportunity plan
