Hello everyone. I am currently a junior in high school, and I was deferred EA from MIT. I will not find out if I am accepted/rejected until March, and will not be going to college next year unless I am accepted. If I am accepted, then I will attend MIT next year as a freshman. If I am rejected, I will go through my senior year in high school and re-apply to college next year. MIT is the only school I applied to.

My question is what to put for my graduation year on the FAFSA since I still don't know whether or not I am graduating this year or next since I haven't heard back from MIT. If anyone is in the same situation or knows what I should do, please let me know.

Thanks!

I’m not 100 percent sure but my daughter is in the same situation, junior applying to be a freshman, and we’re just putting 2013 as the graduation year for everything (common app, cal grant, etc.) I’m sure it’s OK, the only people who care are the college you’re applying to, and they know your situation.

Put down that you are graduating 2013. If you are accepted to MIT that will be true.

Ok, thanks for the help. For all of the forms, should I then assume that I am accepted and graduating early? That seems to make the most sense.

Yes. If all goes to plan, you will be “doing” everything early. If you don’t get in, you won’t be needing the FAFSA application this year and next year you will fill out one for 2014 graduation. That probably goes for all the forms you have.
