The _____ Financial Aid Office has not yet received a complete Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) from the Department of Education. To be complete, the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) shown in the top-right corner of your Student Aid Report (SAR) should show a number. If the EFC is blank, the SAR is incomplete and must be corrected and returned to the Department of Education.

To satisfy this requirement:

Review your SAR provided to you by the Department of Education and make any necessary corrections (as explained on page one of the SAR).
If you filed your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online and have a Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the Department of Education, you can make corrections using Corrections on the Web at FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid. If you don't have a PIN, you can request one online at The PIN Web Site - Federal Student Aid.
If you answered “Yes” to any of the Student Dependency questions under section 2 of the 2009-2010 FAFSA (questions 56-60 regarding being an emancipated minor, under legal guardianship or an unaccompanied youth who was or is at risk of being homeless), please contact the UC Davis Financial Aid Office directly to resolve this matter.

For information about making corrections, where to mail the corrected SAR, or to request a duplicate SAR call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243.
When you receive your corrected SAR with an EFC, please notify your respective Financial Aid Office.

could someone explain this to me? thank you so much...

but i am pretty sure my fafsa is complete…and accurate.

do we have to mail anything to the university itself?

There was something your didn’t complete that was required. Perhaps you and a parent did not “sign” your FAFSA with your PIN? Or it could have been any other required field that just left unanswered. Did you hit the final “submit” button? Something is missing or was not fully completed. You’ll have to go into your FAFSA online and figure out what it is.

As far as the message above is concerned, not it’s not about submitting anything to the college. You may be asked to do that at some point, but that’s not what the message is about.

I checked everything and I see my efc number, meaning that it is complete, correct?

maybe it’s taking some time for the Department of Education to send in my corrected fafsa?
because i sent it in march 19…

I thnk you’re just going to have to call the phone number in the message you received and ask them to help you figure out what the issue is.

You sent the corrections March 19. What is the processing date on your SAR with the EFC listed in the RH corner? What is the date on the letter from the school? If the dates are even close … ummmm … sounds like you had an unofficial EFC that you corrected & the school contacted you BEFORE they had your corrections. Sounds like an on-the-ball school to me!

I would bet if you call the school Monday & ask if they have an official EFC for you yet, they would tell you yes. If not, give it a couple more days …

actually, i am not sure about when i sent in the corrections because the processed date was on 03/19/2010

and my admit letter came on 03/23

thank you for your help guys!!

It looks like the school received an unofficial ISIR (that is, there was something wrong with the initial info they received) - if you have a valid EFC in the corner on your SAR, you probably provided the necessary update already. The timing prompted the letter. Just to be sure, though, you should call the school & make sure they have an official EFC now. If they do not, they should be able to tell you what is wrong & what you need to do to fix it.

Oh okay : )

Thank you so much, kelsmom!
