I looked on the NSLDS website(National Student Loan Data System for Students) where you can see how much money you have in your pell grant and/or loans and I noticed that my school got "$4,162 from my pell grant with a remainder of $1,388 that says "remaining amount to be paid". I'm not taking summer classes, so am I going to get this refunded during spring semester or is it gonna go back to the government.I also opted to NOT do work study on my FAFSA. My EFC is 0 so I got the full $5550 award. Just curious because my computer ***** the bed and I could really use this, since my classes are online and im stuck borrowing my mother in laws PC lol

Were you a full time student for the entire year? If so, you should get your entire $5550 award. Do you know for sure that the school hasn’t already applied it to your account? I would check with the FA office to see if they have any Pell still pending that will give you a credit balance and what their refund schedule is.

The first semester I was half time and this semester I am full time. I took out a stafford loan for $3500 also for expenses but on my account it says I am due back $2,602.27. Minus the $1742 for my stafford loan and that leaves me with $860.27 that I didn’t use from the $2775 for my spring semester. I called my FA office and I have gone down there and no one seems to tell me anything. My FA office is practically ran by students which is really frustrating sometimes!!

So altogether I was awarded:
Pell Grant: 5550
Stafford(Direct) Loan: 3500

First semester I got $1387 from Pell for tuition, books and fee costs costs with a remainder of about $160 left over. I also was awarded half of my stafford $1742

Second semester I was award $2775 for my pell and my other half of my stafford $1742

I’m just curious, I read all over the place that people have gotten refunded the rest of their Pells and my acct doesn’t show that. this is what it looks like…

No, although you’re eligible for a maximum Pell of $5550, it’s actually awarded on a semester/term basis according to your enrollment status/credit hours. If you were half-time in fall, then you got the full amount allowed for a half-time student. Since you’re full time this spring, you received the full-time award. If you don’t take any classes this summer, you will not receive any additional Pell for this year. Here’s the distribution chart for Pell grants, so you can clearly see the award schedule that schools have to follow:

It looks like the school has a refund of $2602 to distribute to you. Ask them what their refund schedule is and whether you need to fill out a form to request payment.
