Hi,
I am confused on something about IRS and FAFSA.
So my mom’s tax return has $2,500 for American Opportunity Tax Credit. And she claims me as a dependent.
For FAFSA’s line 93a, do I put $2,500 from the AOTC or not?
From the IRS retrieval tool, it says 93a should be 0.
I am really confused now.
Thanks

Did your mom file 1040 A or 1040 form? In the link above it says which line on tax form to use for line 93 a on FAFSA.
But if the IRS retrieval tool put $0 then that should be correct, since it brings amounts over directly from tax return.
Nvm
She filed the 1040. Then if I don’t put the $2,500 in 93a,
“Education credits (American Opportunity Tax Credit or Lifetime Learning Tax Credit) from IRS Form 1040-line 50”, it doesn’t have an effect on my FAFSA? Btw thanks for replying
Look on her form 1040. Line 50, what is the amount?
After you use the DRT you don’t change the numbers or it makes it invalud
