<p>So I recently came to the decision that a little financial aid wouldn't hurt. However, I'm not exactly looking for loans...but more of just 'free money'. So submitting the FAFSA form sign you up as a candidate for merit based sholarships and for loans, especially if you've already been accepted to schools?</p>
<p>The FAFSA is used to determine need based aid only. However, some colleges and universities require its completion for all types of finaid including merit aid. BUT the FAFSA is not used to award merit aid unless that merit aid is tied to need.</p>
