FAFSA & impact of employment expense allowance?

My husband has completed but not filed our and our daughter's taxes and done the same with the FAFSA. Last night we began to work on the 2010 EFC Formula Worksheets.

During 2009 we closed our business, I had furlough days and my husband qualifies as a dislocated worker. Although he has not worked since the end of April, will we receive the two working parents allowance of 35% of the lesser income?

We will double check everything, however, without this allowance it appears she will not be Pell eligible.

For the last two academic years my daughter has been Pell eligible, though a letter of special circumstances was needed this year. Because our income had dropped, we expected she would be Pell eligible for the upcoming year.

Thank you, as always, for the help this board offers.

His income from work through April will still be factored into the equation. The ONLY thing dislocated worker status does is allow the Simple Needs or Auto 0 formula to be applied (which ignores assets) if income thresholds are met.

kelsmom, thank you. We submitted and the EFC worked out to be exactly what our math indicated for Pell-eligiblility. After 2009, I am always doing the worst case scenario math. Thank you!
