FAFSA-Money in bank accounts

Last year was the first year in a long time I had to file a FAFSA. Am I losing my mind, or did last year they ask for the $$ amount of all available cash in parental accounts? I seem to remember toting up all my various bank accounts, but this year I didn't see that question. I did see the question about if total assets are less than $18000 or $18500-forget the exact figure. Did I miss the question, imagine last year's question, or am I totally crazy? If it is a replacement question, it is SO much easier. Of course, I just went through and paid all my bills for the month to deplete the balances a bit, but that's a good thing---everything is paid already.

I did see the question asking about the student's total available checking, savings, etc., which is why I thought maybe I missed the parental one.

Oh, and now that I'm thinking about it, it seems to me they asked about the approximate value of my house last year, too.

I didn't submit the FAFSA yet, but once I find out if I missed a question, I'm good to go. The IRS retrieval thing worked great, once I found it. I barely filed two weeks ago and haven't received my refund yet; that's due tomorrow.

I believe there is some new “skip logic” to the FAFSA. If your assets are less than a certain amount, you don’t have to list them.

The FAFSA NEVER asked about the value of your primary residence…NEVER. The Profile asks but the FAFSA does not have any information about your primary residence. If you own a second piece of real estate, the FAFSA does ask for info about that.

Ah, that’s probably it! I did have to fill out the Profile form last year. I must have been thinking of that, not the FAFSA. Just wanted to be sure I hadn’t overlooked anything. Thanks.
