Liz, once you’ve received the SAR you can edit and resubmit. It can take 3-5 days for the corrections to process and for you to receive a new SAR.

bumping for february :)

I have a question. So, since I applied to more than 10 schools, I have to send them twice. However, most of the colleges I added the first are need-blind. So, does it even matter if the financial officers see the colleges I’ve applied to. Now, in like two days, I have to send my other group of colleges my FAFSA form-these are my match and safety school, and I assume they care more about what colleges I’ve applied to.

Also, when I get my SAR will it be listed what colleges I added because I put all my reach schools in one form. It was my reasoning that if they were need-blind they wouldn’t care so much about the other colleges I’ve applied to. Moreover, I have to send/show my SAR form to some scholarship organizations, and I am kind of scared that they see I have applied to so many “reaches.” Though, I also applied to a lot of safeties and matches.
Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Hello, so I’ve read through all the posts, and I am confused.

Momofthreeboys you wrote:

You stated “My fafsa has been accepted.” Do you mean you just submitted it and the submission was ‘confirmed’ OR was the fafsa actually ‘processed’ and you received an email telling you this.

I just wanted to clarify that you must wait for the fafsa to be processed (1 to 3 days)before you go back to delete and add more schools.

When can I officially start adding more schools?

Does the form have to say:

Submitted

Processed

Accepted

or something else…Any insight (especially from parents) would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

bump 10 char

My assumption has been that once the Make Corrections option appears, it’s ok to change school list. The assumption seems to be valid based on schools getting the fafsa, but I can’t guarantee that.

^thanks for the reply. I am just going to wait and see if colleges have received my fafsa so that I can delete them and add new ones.

FAFSA processed my 1st. group schools the day after I submitted. It was easy to find out by logging on fafsa acct again. I deleted them and added 2nd. group and sumitted.

Colleges can see each other in CSS anyway except state U, which they don’t care.

I also have a question, should I correct a mistake? even though it’s a very, very small one? because I didn’t think to round my father’s income up 1 dollar, from $21,132.52 to just $21,133.00. I highly doubt it would change my efc, and it might just lag the processing process needlessly. But the tiny mistake is nagging at me and I don’t want to colleges to think I’m trying to fraud them or something, even though it’s just a dollar…

(side note: i already made a previous correction to my degree i’m working towards and my mother’s income because i inputted wrong. so i don’t want to have to make too many corrections.)

That is not worth “correcting”. Who says you have to round up, anyway?

Can you even put cents in FAFSA? I thought you could only put dollar amounts.

i stumbled onto a yahoo answers page and began to get paranoid.
[Fafsa Rounding off to whole dollars? - Yahoo! Answers](Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos)

you can’t put cents in fafsa, that’s why i thought you had to round up to nearest dollar.

phew, Thanks guys! :)

Here’s another 2012 bump - what helpful information!

Hello.
I have read through the comments on this thread and haven’t seen an answer to my question, which is:
I have already graduated from a technical college and I am now filling my FAFSA out for an University. While I am filling the FAFSA out it shows my technical college in the SCHOOL SELECTION with “remove” beside and of course I now have my new college listed. Do I need to “remove” my old technical college before submitting my FAFSA for the new college I am applying for?
Thanks :)

Lisa, do you want this FAFSA submitted to the technical college? If not, remove it from the list. If you do submit it to the technical college, nothing will ever happen with it as you will not be a student there.

Usually you submit the FAFSA to schools you are considering attending so that they can craft a financial aid package should you get accepted.

Thank you thumper1. I did just that! I appreciate your help!

Bumping this for all beginning to look at the 2013 FAFSA. I started my first ever FAFSA and the 10 school limit made me nervous.

Bumping this also. My D has more than 10. I’m keeping this as a reference.

This information is invaluable for folks applying to a lot of colleges. To the poster asking about the dollar amount - you are supposed to round (up if it is .50 or more). However, i would not lose one moment’s sleep over a $1 error. They really don’t care - the line is not that tight.
