FAFSA - Not able to Process

Today I wanted to check the status of my filing (filed last Friday) and logged in. I face this mesage:

"Based on information you provided or because information was missing, we cannot process your application and calculate an EFC. In order for your application to be processed, you must make corrections..."

And then when I go to the corrections page, I do not see any remark (asterix or red color or any indication) that shows any error.

I do not know what is incorrect and what I need to correct?

Yes, I will call them as soon their office opens, but was wondering if any one faced this and has any clue?

Also, can I also make any other correction (not marked by them) that I thought needed to change (for exampple - we did not think D would file her tax but now we think she needs to get a refund of tax that was withheld).

appreciate your comments.

The first thing I would look for is any number that looks weird.

from an age to a date to a dollar amount.

Yes, I know it's all numbers :-) But one of them must be triggering an 'exception' flag.

would have been nice for them to be more specific.

Let us know what it was..

Thanks Sue for your comments.

Just spoke to 800 and they mentioned I had missed Q 60 & 64 - they were blank. Those are initials of my parents name!

any way just made the corrections and submitted.

I must say one thing - every time I have called 800 I get nice people, they are willing to listen and eager to explain. Even though my EFC (as part of initial estimate that comes with confirmation) is not good, 800 people seem to be good.

Hopefully now the issues are resolved and hope I get a low EFC (this is one of those things we want low apart from gas prices!).

fingers crossed!

I agree about help desk people. tough job....
