FAFSA not received?

I'm not sure if it's too early to freak out yet, but I can't really wrap my head around it. eLion doesn't display any fin aid info, because it says it still needs my FAFSA (which I sent in January 2nd, actually). Other schools have notified me saying they got it, so what's with Penn State, hey?

Anyone else having this problem? Do you think the large volume of students just takes them some time to go through it all, so they just notify students as they get their letters done?

I think you need to call the Fin Aid office asap. Most of us gotten the Fin Aid award letter on elion already in the pass few days. Once to log onto MyPennState, on the lower right hand side should hv a box for Fin Aid office. Early March, you should hv received a message there indicating they hv received your FAFSA. On 3/23, you should hv received an email saying your Fin Aid award letter is avail to view at elion. You should try elion one more time and look under “Fin Aid Award letter”. It’s on the lower left. If nothing there…first call FAFSA to check if they hv sent and second call the Fin Aid office.

BTW, I got my FAFSA in end of Jan… and got my Fin Aid Award Letter on elion yesterday.

No, you should email Financial Aid first as the call volume will undoubtedly be inexplicably large at the moment. They prefer this option and ask that you give them time to respond.

The other schools I have sent the FAFSA to have replied back saying they got it, so I’m sure something just got mixed up at Penn State. Anyway, I emailed the Fin Aid Office, and we’ll see how it goes from there.

Thanks for the help!

Well, got my email back. It seems back in November, I was being normal for some reason (not used to doing college applications, I guess) and didn’t choose to submit my social security number. Which makes sense, since all my other apps were through the Common App, which did have my SSN.

But still! GRRR! I could’ve received more of a heads-up, yes? Not that Penn State was my first choice, but now I can only wonder what could’ve happened…

Anyway, now I have to fax them a copy of my social security card and a signed document saying it’s my real number. And then wait two weeks. Pain in my-----! If any future applicants are reading this, IF THEY ASK FOR A SSN, JUST GIVE IT TO THEM.

And all of your dreams will come true.
