Did anyone get your complete financial aid package? If so, how, and where?
Not yet. Received the email saying it was coming out soon. I would assume that it would be out this week given that every other school (9) that my son was accepted to, except for Penn State, has supplied the Financial Aid information.
@jakeybake Penn State’s Financial Aid is out now
I thought there’s only fall and spring term.
But seeing that summer term has three months, I am starting to wonder if summer term is required to attend.
Thanks but I still can’t access it
@jakeybake
Did you activate your Access Account? (not FPS, the one given after application)
There’s an email about the activation: TIME-SENSITIVE ACTION REQUIRED: Penn State Access Account Activation
I did activate it as soon as the email hit and received the confirmation email that it was done. I get to the “View Financial Aid” screen and when I try to click on it the 2017 link is inactive and it tells me access is denied. Makes no sense but quite frustrating.
@jakeybake: Yea. I recieved that mail too telling me it will come out soon. But so far no sign of the package…
@Adwaya @jakeybake
Are you chosen for verification?
Sorry but I’m unsure what that is. I went through the steps of activation that were laid out and then received the email that told me that we were activated. Not sure if there was another step but I didn’t see anything related to that.
@jakeybake
I mean the FAFSA verification
“All of your federal and need-based aid will be on hold until verification is complete.”

What is Verification?
Verification is a federal regulation that requires colleges and universities to verify the information provided by students and parents on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Colleges and universities have varying rules regarding who must be selected for verification. If you have submitted your FAFSA to multiple schools, they may have different selection criteria than Penn State. Just because one school has asked you to submit something does not mean that you should submit it to all the schools to which you have applied. We will notify you via your Penn State email if you have been selected for verification.
How do I know if I have been selected? What do I do?
To-do List (click to enlarge)
We will notify you via your Penn State email if you have been selected for verification. You can find your verification prompts in the “To Do List” located on the right-hand side of the Student Services Center in LionPATH (see image at left).
Thank you for the info. I never received an email about verifying our FAFSA info. Do you have a Penn State email address? I notice they mention that in the message but I was never notified of the need to have one. Maybe that is the issue? Thanks again for the help, I really appreciate it.
If you didn’t receive a notification for verification then you did not have to do anything. They are supposed to be chosen randomly and approximately 1/3 of the FAFSAs are chosen for verification.
@jakeybake
I don’t think I have one.
Maybe you should contact them
I did this morning. Woman was super nice. Said his award was in and told me that we only got the $5,500 in loans, which I expected. Oh well, PSU is his second choice after OSU so maybe a miracle happens and we get some dough from OSU. Or maybe we hit the lottery before August Thanks so much for all of the assistance. I really appreciate it!
