Hey guys! I applied to a few colleges for early decision and was required to send them all the necessary materials before the November 1st deadline. My colleges all received my CSS; however, my FAFSA still hasn’t been processed.
I live abroad so my parents had to mail their signature. It tells me that the package has reached its destination for almost 2 weeks now. But my FAFSA still shows me that my parents signature are missing when I log in. I completed the app the day it opened, which was October 1st…
I’ve tried emailing them but I wasn’t able to receive a clear answer on whether or not my parents signature has even reached them and it’s starting to make me worry. Since I live abroad, calling them directly will be really expensive, but should I contact them through phone to inquire? I’m thinking of contacting all of my colleges and letting them know that this delay is out of my hands. Should I partake on this matter?
Thank you, and any help will be really appreciated!!
Unfortunately, it takes a really long time for paper signature pages to process. You just have to wait. You can email the schools’ financial aid offices to let them know what’s going on.
Why did you have to do this via snail mail? Why couldn’t it be done online? Do you have at least one parent who is a U.S. citizen?
I don’t believe you are supposed to apply to multiple colleges early decision. This is a situation where you apply to ONE college…not more than one.
Or did you mean early action!
Please clarify.
IME, it does not matter how you send it, as @kelsmom stated, it takes a really long time for the paper documents to process (weeks as compared to day (s) for electronic documents)
All you can do is wait.
@funplant unfortunately it can take awhile to process paper signatures and like @kelsmom said you can email the school financial aid offices to let them know. I would encourage you to do that. And as @thumper1 mentioned you can only apply to one college early decision, so I’m assuming you meant early action?
@funplant could you please clarify your early decision comment? If you applied to more than one school early DECISION, I would strongly urge you to contact all but the top choice and change your applications to regular decision.
If you meant early action, you are in a different boat (unless it’s single choice or restrictive early action where again…only one school can be applied to early beside your instate public…which you don’t have).
Do you have affordable options on your application list? With a $0 EFC, you sound like you are looking for full funding, need based. Is that correct?
Yes, I got it mixed up there. I meant early action
@funplant are either of your parents U.S. citizens?
